The World Famous Turtle Race

Updated: Jan 18, 2019

So, why did you not hear about this world famous turtle race?

Probably because it didn't happen.

Turtle racing could never escape its niche and be billed as a major sport for one simple reason – its boring. Horse racing on the other hand is pure entertainment. While there might be quiet debates over the ethics of horse racing, its tough to deny the entertainment value you get, whether you're in it for the gambling, fashion, celeb-watching or thoroughbreds.

However, life is not always a fast-paced horse race – sometimes it's as slow and monotonous as a turtle race. You’ll have turtle days, turtle people and turtle performance that you will have to deal with - no matter how exciting you try and spin it.

Here at Be Interactive, we’d argue that every day you have a choice of taking the slow lane, or the fast lane.

We're not here to take part. We're here to take over.

Take a weekly goal or task, for example. On a Monday, we’d encourage people to take a big chunk out of that item on their to do list. This is because a sense of euphoria is achieved when you make visible progress, and it spurs you on to complete the NEXT goal / task, and the next, and so forth.

This is an inner drive and desire to get on with the job quickly and get it done fast. This inner drive is an impatience that motivates you to get going and to keep going. After all, the apple is there to be eaten - not to be stroked.

Entertainment value aside, the turtle and horse races have one common denominator – getting from point A to point B. We believe YOU are the one who decides how FAST you want to go, and which race your goals will take part in.

Success in our industry is largely driven by a person’s sense of urgency. If you think that accomplishing something is vitally important, then come hell or high-water you will find a way to get over any obstacles in your path to reach your goal.

At Be Interactive, we believe that when an individual attaches a sense of urgency to a task or goal, then they feel compelled to follow through. Accomplishing their goal becomes critical to their existence - they make it their first priority from the moment that they wake up, to when they go to bed at night, until the job is done.

Our advice? Select ONE major task confronting you and launch into it immediately at the start of your work week. Don’t hesitate - move fast. Second, start doing this every morning until it becomes ingrained behaviour.

The decision for creating a sense of urgency ultimately rests with you.

Take part in a horse race in 2019, NOT a turtle race.
